Hector's Trip to Southland.

Yesterday I had skyped Hector to show him the snow that was falling in Christchurch and remind him to bring some snow gear for the snow.  Today when I picked up Hector, Aimee, and Emily from the airport Hector was very excited about getting home and building a snowman, “Auntie Fe Fe I have a great idea we can build a snowman”  he said, “that’s a great idea we should still have plenty of snow when we get home” I replied “you know what else we can do Auntie Fe Fe once we have made him we can make snow balls and throw them at him” he continued excitedly, “we might knock his head off if we do that” I replied “yea”  he replied with a smile. As we drove Hector was keen to share another idea he had had “do you know what I thought I could do if the plane couldn’t land” “no what” I asked, “put skies on the front and then we could just slide onto the runway” what a great idea Hector.

When we arrived home and had unpacked the bags we headed outside to build the snowman, with the dogs in tow we worked together to gather up enough snow to build the snowman; we carefully made his head and then used a carrot for his nose, two pieces of coal for his eyes, and a red leaf for his mouth, not long after Erika arrived and helped find two stick for his arms, two of Auntie Fe Fe’s gardening gloves for hands, a scarf, and a cap for his head, once he was ready Hector was keen to roll up some snow balls and use his newly made snowman as target practice, after just a couple of shots he hit the bulls eye and knocked the head off “got-him and the heads off” he called excitedly, great shot Hector.
Later in the afternoon Aimee and Emily joined us outside were Hector and Emily tried to make snow angels before heading to the chickens to feed them, on the way Hector spotted three little pigs with their mother in the garden, “awesome pigs” said Hector “lets take a photo” suggested Aimee, Hector held Emily for the photo before we continued on to the job at hand, feeding the chickens. When we were in the chicken’s paddock Hector noticed that their water trough was frozen “Auntie Fe Fe the chickens can’t get any water it’s frozen” he said “ “o no what should we do” I asked him, “I could use my snowman’s arm” he replied showing me the stick he was carrying, “ok” I replied and with that he broke the ice so the chickens could reach the water. We slowly headed back inside exploring the garden as we went.
