A little Agricultural here and a touch of pastoral there but all in all, its not what we remember. The weather certainly isn’t the same in November anymore. Horses were definitely the highlight, although the big slide came in a close second.

Halloween Happening in Mainstreet Wanganui!
Glorious afternoon sun brought out lots of trick or treaters in good old Vic
Ave today! The kids had a fun time (after getting over the stage fright of
having to announce 'trick or treat' when they entered each store). Good
stuff Wanganui!

A Collectiion of Crafty Mondays
We found this cool trick on Cometogetherkids.com a while ago and have been wanting to give it a whirl. Thomas was the lucky punter who tried it out with us.
ODE TO DAME EDNA!......GLASSES
We attached a few pipe cleaners onto Florences that could wrap around her ears, she wore them until bath time!
OLD FASHIONED LEMONADE
I am a great believer than the best things happen when you forget about planning and on a walk home after school this week exactly that happened. Some generous person had set up a table full of lemons at the development gates with a sigh saying 'free lemons, please take a bag'. The kids could not believe that we were allowed to just take a bag without giving anything in return (which was nice), so we decided to make old fashioned lemon (with a twist) and then give the lemons back to the compost!
1 cup Lemon juice
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons citric acid
a few gratings of fresh ginger
a handful of mint
1 litre of boiling water
We just crushed the mint and ginger into the sugar with a mortar and pestal then added that and the citric acid into the boiling water, let it dissolve then added the lemon. It made an intense concentrate that you can make as strong or weak as you want. YUM!
BIRD FEEDER
For a while now we have been getting a visit from a pair of ducks, the kids love feeding them (and chasing them). The do however eat all our wild bird seed that the kids throw on the lawn, so we made a hanging birdfeeder. No black thumbs, all good!

Hands down the best thing I've made in 5 minutes for the kids! It is genius. AND, it keeps!
