Whenuapai Airshow
If we'd known it would take two hours to drive the 20 kms out to Whenuapai on Saturday we probably would have given it a miss. But thankfully we were blissfully unaware until we were trapped in the thick of it! We eventually got out to the air base, (having enjoyed a good chunk of the action from the highway), and got to see some amazing planes and acrobatics. Our pictures weren't great, but the link here has a fabulous slideshow.

Parnell Pools
Did we have an adventure today! Started off with a walk to the ferry...a huge black cloud chased us. It emptied just as we hit the calm waters of Auckland Harbour. My goodness did it rain, the only thing to do was to hide out at Britomart. We caught the train to Orakei after being told it was close to the Parnell Pools. It wasn't but the boys loved it. Back to the city and the rain had cleared a little so we walked. We loved what we found - the Parnell Pools are amazing. Spouting spraying salt water heated pools...and no one else was there!!!!!!!! Then the sun came out. What a great day!

Tessa Turns Two!
Hector's little friend Tessa came back to NZ to live on Thursday, which was also her second birthday, so we had a teddy bears picnic at Auckland Domain on Sunday. She loved her fairy wings, I'm so pleased, Hector just wasn't up for a pair of his own!
It turned out to be a big morning and H didn't last the ride home.
I LOVE THIS PHOTO!!!!!!!! Looks at my boys, how much of a mini me is Hector - everything is in the exact same position!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For ages now we've been driving over the harbour bridge and can see fishermen down on the eastern side but have failed to work out how to get there. Well, we cracked it on the weekend and even found a tunnel that takes you back under the motorway - very exciting!

Hector's New Obsession
I gave in! All the boys in the neighbourhood have light sabres that they run around with all day and Hector looks on with envy. So when we saw one today (when we were supposed to be finding a birthday present for Tessa) I just couldn't say no. The look on his face when I gave the nod was priceless. Needless to say it has not left his side since. The downside is it has sound. Oh ow!

Fynn's Farm
Hector and I had a little adventure today. Its been a while since I've had that feeling of anticipation when you are not quite sure where you are going and where you'll end up.
We made it there in one piece up a bumpy country road to Fynns Farm! SO MUCH SPACE! The kids went crazy, wore them out famtastically! Irena's brother Uncle Vin was there to entertain while we kicked back - it was fabulous!

Sunday Outing
We braved the weather today and went out to Franklin to the Glenbrook Vintage Railway to see Thomas and his friends. Hector's eye popped out of his head when we saw Thomas sitting on the tracks steaming away. Rain didn't hinder much. The ride was fantascit - 46 minutes of steaming tooting peeping the whole works. We even got to meet some of Thomas' friends that are being restored.
