Gone Fishing

the Wanganui weather was so good between Christmas and New Year that we felt obliged to spend some time at the lake (lake Pauri on Uncle Neils farm near Wanganui that is). Neil gave Chris, Jo, Brad and Sarah a guided fishing tour of the perch trenches. Thanks Neil!

We pulled up 29 fish in about 30 minutes and of course Jo and Chris scored more than the other team!!! The last fish caught was left on the hook and we dragged it in for a certain little boy to reel in when we got back to the dock. The look on his face when he pulled the line up and saw a fish on the end was priceless. We spent the next 2 days hearing about Hector's fish, he was so excited.

Christmas 2008

This year was the first time in years that we have all been together as one big happy family! Was so nice to spend time with Brad and Sarah...and mum and dad of course!

Hector was well aware of what was going on this year. He seemed to love putting the snack out for Santa... his face in the morning when he saw the crumbs on the plate and an empty bottle was priceless!

We had a Macbeth wedding to attend on the Sunday before Christmas. Chris' Uncle Kevin married Marie, so the occasion doubled as a family reunion. Hector got to spend some time with his cousins. He loves Niah! And the best news of all, Niah's going to have a little brother or sister come the middle of next year - CONGRATULATIONS MARY AND MICHAEL! Pukekura Park was awesome.

Shane's new house was full to the brim over the weekend. I'd say the house has been broken in sufficiently now. Thanks for having us Shane - we loved being there with you and the boys and the rest of the crew. Lucas tired of pulling Hector around the lawn on the boogy board before he did... no surprise there.

Just thought I'd pop this in. It's what was inside our christmas cards this year. It only took two photos out of about 50 to get a goodie too! Thank goodness he was having a camera happy moment.

Christmas Parade

For the past lots of Tuesday mornings I've gathered with a few other creche women to create the annual creche float for the Birkenhead Christmas Parade. Our theme: Yellow Submarine. Only a few minor hitches presented themselves along the way so it resulted in an excellent and fun morning for everyone. Thank goodness for sunshine! I made Hector and his little mate Luke a fish costume each but as yet we've not been able to convince him to put it on, Luke wore his boldly. Sad that he's missed out, but I had a heap of fun making it.

The float - empty and loaded. Hector's very very cute wave.

How it looked from on board....

Lost in Sleep

Although I knew it was impossible to have 'lost' Hector inside the house, I still had a few fretful moments when I couldn't find him in his bed. Not in the bed, he was under it fast asleep.

The Sun Shines!

We were over in St Heliers today doing a few errands and couldn't go past the beach without stopping. The weather was flawless, the sea was warm and it wasn't over run with people! All that sun tired Hector out too.

Bob The Builder and his Bubbles

Chris found this bubble blower for Hector yesterday. It's battery operated which is a bit of a cop out but it does produce some large bubbles. Bigger than Hector's head even!

Here's the BIG BED!!!!!!!

So last night was the night...finally I sucked it up and let Hector sleep in the big bed. I had all the concerns known.......what if he falls out, what if he gets out and falls down the stairs, will he ever go to sleep and if he does will it be in the bed or out of it. But none of those things happened. Probably took him a little longer to go to sleep but he stayed there happy as and woke an hour later this morning. Beginners Luck???

The Otrohanga Kiwi House

Better than a horse?

The perfect pav making husband!

Chris just sent me this pic!

How lucky am I to have a husband who can whip up a creation like this all by himself!

Wish I was there to eat it!

Time for a big bed?

I've just been in to check on my baby (in his cot) and this is what I found..........
I think it might be time to leave the cot and head for the big bed. He had Pooh plus a drink with him when we put him down but the rest was gathered by his own 2 year old hands!
How perfect is that though.....owwwww.
