WAN - GA - NUI

Hector LOVES his Poppa Carl! Nice cheeeeese.

Bath time.... via a Horse back ride.

Viriginia Lake was full of hungry ducks. Some cheeky ones even helped themselves to a slice of bread out of the packet!

We had a day trip over to Palmerston North to see Uncle Bruce. He did a great job at tiring Hector out, he was asleep 5 minutes after leaving and didn't wake until we got to Wanganui!

Uncle Brad made a surprise arrival for a change!

Hector's guitar skills are hilarious!

Boys being boys

Hector has taken on this uber masculine thing where he growls and grunts at things and people, known or unfamiliar, its quite interesting really. But apparently its just boys being boys. Hope he gets over it before uni, wouldn't be a good look.
P.s. He can now stand on one leg.

2 year old golf

This is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Takapuna Beach

Takapuna beach was full yesterday even though the temperatures have dropped a little in the past few days. Hector spent ages in the remains of some other kids sand castle.

Swimming

The pool next door has been a blessing the past few days. The temperature we had today of 32.4 equals the highest ever recorded in Auckland!!!!! Nasty muggy heat. But, compared to what Aunty Jane and Uncle Sean are faced with after the bush fires its selfish to complain about anything. I found this photo today - its of the road that takes you up the mountain from St Andrews to Kinglake. I used to bike it when I lived in Kinglake.... what a devistation.

Steamy Sunday

Another hot day in the North so we headed up to Matakana to see some animals at the Matakana Country Park. They were hot too and hiding in the shade. The playground proved a hit with H though...there was a very sweaty head at the end of it. Nice restaurant up there too! Can't complain about the heat though, while we were having a lazy Sunday my Aunt and Uncle along with Brad and Sarah were battling the fires in Victoria. Everyone is fine but he house was reduced to a pile of rubble.

HOT HOT HOT

With it reaching temperatures way too hot to function in today we went in search of a beach. We found Kendall Bay 15 minutes walk through the Chelsea Reserve bush. Didn't go swimming because the oyster shells were like razor blades but Hector LOVED the rock pools full of crabs and shrimps. He stabbed a few which wasn't in the plan, but that's what little boys do right!

Chinese Lantern Festival

The 10th Anniversay of the Chinese Lantern Festival was this weekend, so we went to check it out this morning. The lanterns were amazing! So, we had to come back and see them in the evening. Hector thought he was a real big boy being out at night (he hasn't had many) but the crowds that gathered proved a little bit overwhelming. Especially when a dragon from the dragon parade had a nibble on his shoes (he was aleady crying when the Prime Minister came by) ....... I'm expecting there to be a few nightmares tonight. The poor wee lad.

Parental Guidance recommended! Poor Hector, if only his mother had seen it coming and saved him first!
